Although Kia has not elaborated on Telluride’s powertrain options, they are likely to mirror those of its sibling, Hyundai Palisade. Expected to match Telluride’s offerings to Hyundai Palisade’s powertrain package, Kia Telluride should feature a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission and approximately 287 hp. To improve fuel savings without a significant sacrifice in power, a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine enhancing Telluride’s output to 329 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque will likely be added to the trim. Furthermore, the 2027 Tellurides are likely to feature the Telluride to gain “SUV of the year” recognition.

The complaints from previous generations seem to have been addressed with improvements made for rear passenger ease of entry and exit. There may still be comfort issues for taller passengers seated in the third row, although the second-row seat’s ability to slide should offer some assistance in legroom adjustment.
Hyundai Palisade’s Absence in Australia
Although Kia continues to roll out the Telluride, which shares the same platform and many features with the Hyundai Palisade, the Palisade continues to be absent in the Australian market for 2025. In terms of Australian consumer demand, the Palisade should be available and has been made available as a flagship large SUV with high-end luxurious features. Even so, the Palisade has not been introduced or available for any formal distribution in Australia as of late.
As the Palisade has been made available globally with a mixture of gasoline and hybrid powertrains, including a 2.5-liter turbocharged hybrid engine, a meaningful hybrid engine to the Australian market, and high fuel costs, one would expect the Palisade to be available in Australia. However, March 2023 dealership listings and Hyundai Australia’s absent 2025 lineup clearly indicate the Palisade is not available and has not been made available in Australia.
Market Expectations and Launch Details
Production of the Telluride will take place at Kia’s Georgia plant and will begin sometime in 2025. Global sales will commence in Q1 of 2026. The Telluride will have a global unveiling at the LA Auto Show in Nov 2025, where the details of the Telluride’s marketing and promotional features, powertrains, and trim configurations will be announced.
